Aboriginal English (AbE) occurred when local Aboriginal dialect was denied to be spoken. It was a way to keep connected to traditional language. It is spoken by alot of Aboriginal people in Australia. These sayings are a marker of Aboriginal identity and are similar or can differ depending on the region. AbE at SandiiShores is unique to the Murchison/Gascoyne mobs with connecting languages to the Pilbara, parts of the Kimberley and Perth areas. It is a formally recognised language.

As can be common amongst Aboriginal people I am known by 2 names. Community members will know me as Emma whilst Govt or "official" agencies know me as Sandra.

SandiiS

I am a Yamatji woman from the Norwest region of Western Australia. Born & bred in Carnarvon with ties to the Pilbara & Southwest regions of WA. I started this business because I wanted to see local Aboriginal adages being promoted.

All our products are eco-friendly, durable & suited to the differing climates in the Murchison/Gascoyne area as well as it's surrounds.

I hope this will inspire other Aboriginal people to start their own business and also to inspire pride in our modern language, that is truly unique, to our locality!
